The genius entrepreneurs behind the world’s first grilled cheese sandwich subscription launched a Kickstarter campaign last month to get the company operational.
Subscribers are sent a different grilled sandwich each week, which could be a comfortingly traditional cheese and pickle, or a slightly more eclectic brie, toffee and banana, in a package that’s delivered straight to your door.
For the small sum of £3.99 per week, you’ll receive all the artisanal ingredients and a bag to toast the sandwich in – you’ll just have to muster the patience to wait a few minutes whilst it toasts. The packages are also designed to fit through your letterbox, so there’s no chance of your neighbour nabbing your cheese postie while you’re out.
Well, the campaign closed yesterday – and Cheese Posties have almost doubled their original funding target, having amassed almost £4000, soaring past their initial goal of £2000.
We can attest to how how much a serving of grilled cheese straight to your door can brighten up your day, as editor Holly discovered when she trialled Cheese Posties.
Founders Danny Jennings, 56, and Dave Rotheroe, 26, were delighted with the public response to the campaign, and posted this message to supporters:
“So here we are funded almost double our original goal and with over 300 of you eagerly awaiting melted cheesy wins! We want to say a massive thank you for all the comments, to everyone for being part of cheese history and helping us get Cheese Posties off the ground!”
If you’re wondering when you’ll be able to get your mitts on your very own Cheese Postie, the good news is is that a full website launch and shipping will commence around the end of August.
