5 geeky hats to keep you smiling through the colder months

It's our geeky find of the week, but you couldn't really expect us to pick just one

It’s now Autumn. The rain is falling harder, the air is getting crisper, and your ears are feeling the wind’s wrath. We’ve put together a list of geek-chic headwear to get you through these cold and dark times by providing the warm glow that only merch can.

1) Princess Leia Beanie

Let’s face it, that Princess Leia hairstyle takes some serious styling commitment that most of us are just not willing, or don’t have the time, to give. Thankfully, Think Geek are giving you the chance to achieve that cinnamon bun chic and keep your ears warm with their Princess Leia Beanie.

The hat is fleece-lined and one size fits all, coming in at $19.99 (around £13). Think Geek offer international shipping to the UK in the form of UPS Express and DHL, or a less expensive economy service for smaller, lighter orders weighing less than 4 pounds and costing less than $400.

2) Harley Quinn Peruvian Mask Hat

With Suicide Squad’s impending release, Harley Quinn is going to be all the rage. Go back to her costume roots with this super cosy hat from Think Geek. It has pompoms and everything! Being able to pull the hat down over your eyes as a mask means it’s pretty much ready to be your Halloween costume too.

3) Pikachu Beanie

This crochet Pikachu beanie is all kinds of adorable and perfect for bringing a little spark to cold brighter months.

The hat is from Etsy via littlepopo’s store and costs £24.74. The creator is based in the US, but does do worldwide shipping for £9.70. You can get Pikachu in a variety of sizes, ranging from a Kid’s XS to an Adult’s XL with accompanying head measurements to help you decide which is best for you.

4) Assassin’s Creed Beanie

Thus far, the hats have been a little loud, so if you’re looking for something more subtle, something that might suit, say, an assassin, then you might be interested in this beanie from Insert Coin. Sometimes your robes and hood need to go in the wash, but you can still represent your brotherhood in this “anti-royal blue” Assassin’s Creed Unity beanie, tagged with the assassin’s logo. Because it wouldn’t do to be too subtle.

The hat is one size fits all and, even better, on sale! It’s £7.50 down from £15 with £3.50 shipping via the Royal Mail.

5) Totoro Hat

This hat comes personally recommended by me, since I own it and can vouch for its comfort (and unquestionable style). Instead of being glad to receive shelter from the rain, Totoro is now giving that shelter to you with floppy ears and all, so take that leaf off your head and buy this hat instead!

The hat is available from a small seller called Oscar Cat Creations, who make an endless amount of wonderful geek-chic knits. They usually tour stalls in Scotland if you’d like to visit in person, but you can also take a flick through their Facebook photos and order via email or the page where you can organise a made to order hat and arrange delivery and pricing. The Totoro hat comes in kids and adult sizes and costs £13.

Hats that just look like hats are so boring, don’t you think?
