Nintendo have announced that they’re expanding their Nintendo Selects range to include 3DS games for the first time. The Select range takes games that have been released and re-releases them at a lower price point, and 6 games will be joining the lineup for 3DS. These are: The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, Star Fox 64 3D, Nintendogs and Cats, Mario Tennis Open, Yoshi’s New Island, and Mario Party: Island Tour.
It’s actually not a bad lineup. The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, and Star Fox 64 3D are certainly worth your time when it comes to choosing to buy. We suggest you maybe steer clear of Yoshi’s New Island; it is far from critically loved, but then again if you’re going to take a chance on buying a game it might as well be at a reduced price point. But if I find myself standing beside you and you reach for Yoshi’s New Island over A Link Between Worlds, I might forcefully redirect your limb.
The line will be available from October 16th, no doubt in the hopes of driving up some Christmas sales.
We do wonder one thing, though, do they try to make budget line packaging ugly? Instead of a small sticker, or even just a fairly indicative lower price point, Nintendo seem to have opted for a packaging that makes the game look as cheap as its price point. Sigh.
Update: The range is now available to pre-order from the Nintendo store, with each game being priced at £15.99.
