Outlast was one of the games we absolutely recommended that you try on our list of games to play this Halloween, so we were excited to see that the game’s developers Red Barrel have confirmed that there will be a sequel!
Outlast 2 (we suppose the imagination is in the game, not the title) was confirmed yesterday after Red Barrels had been teasing an announcement:

Red Barrels claim that the game will be “a twisted new journey into the depths of the human mind and its dark secrets”. Just like taking a scroll down your Twitter feed, then. You can check out the suitably creepy teaser trailer below:
Obviously this teaser is only illuminating in the sense that it features quite a lot of fire; information on the sequel is thin on the ground, but we do know that Outlast 2 will have a new setting and new characters, whilst keeping some old mechanics like the night-vision camera.
Outlast 2 won’t be playable this Halloween, but if you’re looking for something next year you should be in luck, as the game is scheduled for release in Autumn 2016. If the first game is anything to go by, this is one to keep an eye on. If you want to try the original Outlast to see whether you should be excited or not, it’s in Steam’s Halloween sale now for only £3.74!
