Meet Linkle, the Link-inspired female character coming to the Zelda universe

She'll be making her debut next year

There’s a new character coming to The Legend of Zelda universe, and her name is Linkle (we’re not sure about that name, but we’re going to roll with it).

Announced in last night’s hotly anticipated Nintendo Direct, Linkle will be making her debut as a playable character in the 3DS version of Hyrule Warriors: Hyrule Warriors Legends, being released on March 25th 2016.

There’s a lot of talk about Linkle just being a female Link, to cater to those who’d like to play the games with Link as a woman, but we like to think Linkle is a little more than just Link with boobs. Linkle has her own distinctive weapons with her double crossbows, significantly huge compass, different spin attack, and her own insanely enviable style (that outfit is my Autumn aesthetic). She’s not just a ‘female Link’, she’s Linkle. And we can’t wait to meet her.

It’s not clear if Linkle will be playable in any other future games in the series, like the upcoming Twilight Princess remake, but our hopes are high!
