When you think of Aliens, you probably think of the only sequel to ever be better than the original film, “They mostly come out at night… mostly” and Ripley screaming expletives at mama Alien in a power loader.
It’s one of the realest, best, most badass films to ever hit the big screen and I will forever salute Sigourney Weaver for her ultimate portrayal of a woman scorned by evil robots and men-who-think-they-know-best. With her flawless permed hair, leather jacket and those red and white Reeboks, the look has lasted throughout the decades, thanks to Halloween costumes and well, anytime you want to look like the a flame-thrower-toting mega-heroine.

If you’re an avid Aliens fan, you probably noticed her watch too. Bringing the look together, James Cameron specifically chose the Seiko Giugiaro 7A28-7000 watch for Ripley’s costume, causing it to become one of the most iconic watches out there (see ya, James Bond). As one of the first watches Italian car designer Giorgetto Giugiaro ever designed, you know this watch means business.
To honour the design – and make Aliens fans around the world scream with delight – Seiko is re-issuing the watch in anticipation of the film’s 30th anniversary next year. Coming in at around £200 (Christmas is coming), the reissued, limited edition designs come in the original silver/grey (SCED035) or black (SCED037).
With the new designs limited to only 3,000 pieces, time is running out for you to snap one up. Head over to the Seiko site if you want one (be warned though, it’s all in Japanese and quite confusing). If you can’t let that get in the way of your purchasing, the watch is available on other sites, but check them out carefully – there’ll be fakes all over the place.
