Ratchet and Clank for PS4 now has cover art and a release date

The release coincides with the movie. We feel spoiled!

It’s not often a concurrent videogame/movie release sparks excitement anymore. I think the last time I was even remotely excited about a videogame being released alongside a film was Harry Potter and the Camber of Secrets in 2002, when my parents took me to see the film and I got the excellent Playstation game on the way home – seriously, that game was a high point for the series.

Pleasantly, though, I can feel that excitement coming back around with an announcement from Insomniac on the Playstation Blog that the PS4 re-imagining of Ratchet and Clank is being released on April 20th to coincide with the release of the Ratchet and Clank movie. I suppose things are a little different when the movie is based on the game and not the other way around. There’s been some box art released for the game too, check it out:

Ratchet and Clank is a remake of the PS2 game of the same name, but Insomniac promise it will be slightly different, “telling a new version of the origin story many of you will remember.” The game will be told from the perspective of Captain Qwark to give it the refreshing twist in perspective it needs and the gameplay itself has been improved, with the addition of modernised controls, new weapons, new boss fights, and new planets to boot. But we have the familiar faces to look forward to as well.

Having played a demo of the game, I’m pretty excited about getting my hands on it again. I don’t know about you, but I might have to make a day of the release and throw myself completely into the nostalgia.
