This is a sponsored post from our friends at Intuit Developer.
We’re big fans of hackathons here at Gadgette. They’re a proven force for good, challenging bright and brilliant people to come up with new ideas, create new products or systems, and generally improve this little planet we call home.
We’ve previously talked about what hackathons are and why they’re all kinds of great and if you’re sat there thinking to yourself “Jeez, that sounds positively divine but how the Dickens do I get involved?” — well, you’re in luck.
Coming soon: Intuit QuickBooks Small Biz Hackathon!
Taking place in London on the weekend of February 24-25 as part of a global series, the challenge couldn’t be simpler: create a new solution that will help small businesses save time or money.
Always felt like you “get” business? Spent countless years shouting at the parade of idiots on Dragon’s Den because they haven’t got a clue what they’re talking about (looking at you, ‘tech supremo’ Peter)? Then here’s your chance to put your skills to the test and, quite possibly, change the world for the better.
Intuit Developer has set itself the mission to help entrepreneurs and developers build solutions for millions of small businesses worldwide. Their QuickBooks Online platform has open APIs that give you direct access to small business data so you can streamline the work they do and provide valuable insights.
QuickBooks counts on innovative developers (like you!) to help them improve the lives of small business owners all over the world – and the Small Biz Hackathon is their next step towards that goal.
But it’s not all about altruism here – the only thing better than the good company, free food, and warm sense of accomplishment that comes from a hackathon is the prizes. And QuickBooks aren’t lacking in that department:
- 1st place: £5,000 for your team to share
- 2nd place: A Nintendo Switch for everyone in your team
- 3rd place: HP Sprocket Portable Photo Printer for everyone in your team
- PLUS if you’re one of the first 25 to arrive, you get a free tech gift. Woop!
So – are you a tech savant, a software engineer, an app developer, or a generally cool person with good ideas? It couldn’t be easier to get involved. Read all about it and sign up here (as a team of up to four, or just by yourself), ask questions or find hack buddies using @IntuitDev and #smallbizhack, make some cool stuff, join the QuickBooks Conference after the hackathon (on Feb 27-28) – and, most importantly, remember us when you’re rich and famous and stuff. Thanks.
Good luck — let us know how you get on.
Quick shout-out to our friends at BeMyApp – when they’re not campaigning to get more women involved in hackathons, they’re organising events for you to work your personal brand of magic on, so check them out for future ‘thons.
